Wealthsimple Predict is a Canadian prediction market — a place to trade on the outcome of real-world events. Buy and sell contracts whose value depends on what happens next.
What is a prediction market?
A prediction market lets you trade contracts based on what you think will happen next. Each contract is a simple yes or no position on a future event. Buy a contract if you think the outcome will happen; sell if you don't. The prediction market price reflects what traders collectively believe — and if your position is correct, the contract settles at $1.
How trading works
Every contract on Wealthsimple Predict trades between 1 cent and 99 cents. The price represents an implied probability. A contract trading at 65 cents means the market sees roughly a 65% chance of that event occurring. You trade based on your own view — and the price you pay for a contract is the most you can lose.
What you can trade on
Take a position on the events you actually follow. Wealthsimple Predict offers contracts across economics, weather, financial markets, sports, and culture — all categories approved by Canadian regulators.
Will the Bank of Canada hold rates steady? Will inflation surprise to the upside? Will your team make the playoffs? If you have a view, you can trade on it.
Transparent and peer-to-peer
Prediction markets on Wealthsimple Predict are peer-to-peer. For every contract there's a buyer and a seller. Prices update in real time based on trading activity. There's no operator advantage, no built-in spread, and no hidden edge — just a transparent market.
Clear resolution
Every event market has a defined resolution source published before trading opens. You always know how and when an outcome will be decided. No ambiguity, no discretion.
Built by Wealthsimple
Wealthsimple Predict is built on the same infrastructure that millions of Canadians use for investing, trading, and managing their money.
Built responsibly
We built Wealthsimple Predict responsibly. Learning is built into the product through mandatory onboarding and plain-language definitions, guardrails run through every step from trading-risk reminders to liquidity warnings on quieter markets, and every contract is regulated as a futures contract overseen by Canadian regulators — spanning economic indicators, financial markets, and climate.
